Date Difference Calculator

Count the elapsed days between two dates and choose whether to include either endpoint in the inclusive count.

How to use

Select a start date, end date, and endpoint rule. The elapsed difference is shown separately from the selected inclusive day count.

Formula

Elapsed days = end date − start date · Inclusive count = dates between the endpoints plus the selected endpoints

Example

How many days are between January 1 and January 3?

The elapsed difference is 2 days; including both dates gives 3 days.

Frequently asked questions

Are the start and end dates included by default?
Elapsed days exclude endpoint counting. A separate result applies the endpoint option you select.
Can the end date be earlier than the start date?
No. Choose an end date on or after the start date.
